Summer Camps on Shelter Island

Summer Camps on Shelter Island

Shelter Island has fewer camps than the rest of the North Fork, but the choices are varied. Kids can try farm and forest programs, water sports, outdoor skills, theater, cooking, or environmental exploration.

Sylvester Manor Youth Programs

Sylvester Manor offers several nature-based summer programs on its historic grounds. Younger kids can join morning camps on the farm or in the garden. Older children can choose programs in cooking, wilderness skills, farm work, STEM, or theater.

Families can also combine some morning and afternoon programs to create a longer camp day.

Ages 2 to 15, half-day and full-day options. Main summer programs run from June 29 to August 21, with additional weeks from June 22 to 26 and August 24 to 28.

Peconic Water Sports Camp

Peconic Water Sports Camp has a Shelter Island location where kids can enjoy an active morning on the water. They can try wakeboarding, wakesurfing, waterskiing, tubing, and fishing.

Each boat takes a small group of kids. The camp welcomes both beginners and those with experience.

Ages 5 to 14, half-day program. The Shelter Island season runs June 22 to August 7, with sessions from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Mashomack Environmental Explorers

Mashomack Environmental Explorers is a four-day outdoor program at Mashomack Preserve. Kids explore the preserve's trails, fields, forests, wetlands, and water, with lots of hands-on environmental learning.

Each child may sign up for just one session.

Ages 8 to 12, Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Sessions run July 27 to 30 and August 3 to 6.
