North Fork Farm Summer Camps

There's something about a farm that makes a summer morning feel slower in the best way. Kids collect eggs, dig in the dirt, and return home with stories about a favorite chicken or a wheelbarrow they helped push.
The North Fork has a handful of camps that do exactly that. Some take place on working farms, and others use a farm setting for language, play, and hands-on activities. Here are five camps to check out this summer.
Miss Ashley's Nest Summer Camp
Jamesport
Miss Ashley's Nest is a small summer camp in Jamesport. Kids explore almost an acre of land with animals and farm field views.
Campers help care for chickens and ducks, spend time in the garden, and pet the resident bunny. Mornings are filled with outdoor play, baking, flower crafts, and sprinklers. The relaxed pace is good for younger children who feel most comfortable in a small setting.
Ages 2 to 8, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Eight weekly sessions run June 29 through August 21.
Browder's Birds Farm Camp
Mattituck
Browder's Birds Farm Camp is held on an organic livestock farm. Each morning, campers spend time with the animals and help out around the farm.
Younger campers plant seeds, gather eggs, bake, and work on small projects. Older kids help with farm chores, care for animals, learn about beekeeping, and make crafts from wool and plants.
This small-group camp is a good choice for families who want a farm experience in the morning rather than a full-day program.
Ages 3 to 4 and 5+, Monday to Thursday, 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. Two sessions: August 3 to 6 and August 17 to 20.
Hallockville Farm Camp
Riverhead
Hallockville Farm Camp is held on a historic working farm with gardens, animals, open fields, and even a shoreline.
Each week has a different theme that links farm life to food, tools, local history, and nature. Campers cook with garden produce, explore historic barns, learn from guest educators, walk to the beach, and practice skills that keep a farm running.
Ages 5 to 12, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Seven weekly sessions run June 29 through August 14.
Farm Hands
Riverhead
Farm Hands is a preschool camp at Hallockville Museum Farm. Each morning, kids care for animals, garden, cook, and learn about historic farm life.
This camp is designed for younger children, offering a shorter day and optional aftercare for families who need it.
Ages 3 to 5, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, with aftercare until 2:00 pm. Weekly sessions run June 22 through August 14.
Naturally Speaking Language Program
Greenport
Naturally Speaking is different from a typical farm camp. It is a language and communication program run by speech-language pathologists on a farm in Greenport.
The farm setting gives kids real things to notice and talk about. Instead of practicing communication in a classroom, they learn outside, surrounded by animals, plants, and tools.
Ages 5 to 10. The program runs June 29 to July 3, with one session for ages 5 to 7 and another for ages 8 to 10.
