North Fork Art Camps for Kids

Some kids could spend an entire summer week painting, sculpting, and creating with their hands. Art camps on the North Fork offer a variety of options, from morning-only to full-day. Here are six art programs for this summer, organized by age range from youngest to oldest.

Bella Anima Summer Camp

Wading River

Bella Anima in Wading River offers weekly themed camps where kids enjoy crafts, games, and hands-on projects. Themes include Creative Makers, Slime Lab, LEGO Builders, Under the Sea, Science, '90s Throwback, and Sweet Treats.

This program is project-based, and kids bring home what they make. You can also book by the day, with an option to add an extra hour if your family needs a longer morning.

Ages 5 and up, Monday to Thursday, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Eight weekly sessions run July 6 to August 27, with optional extended time until 1:30 pm.

East End Arts Renaissance Kids Summer Camp

Riverhead

Renaissance Kids Summer Camp is a weekly arts program by East End Arts. Mornings are for visual art like watercolor, canvas painting, collage, and 3D projects. In the afternoon, kids do music and stage performances. There's a family show at the end of the week.

Families can choose just the morning, just the afternoon, or combine both for a full day.

Ages 5 to 10, Monday to Friday. Morning art runs 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, afternoon music and performance runs 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and the full day runs 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Seven weekly sessions run July 6 to August 21.

Future Stars Riverhead: Art

Riverhead

Future Stars Riverhead offers an art program at their day camp. Kids try a variety of activities: portraits, papier-mâché, tie-dye, pottery, and beaded jewelry.

The campus also has a 25-yard indoor heated pool and a water park, and art campers get a daily swim as part of their schedule.

Ages 6 to 15, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The art track runs June 29 to August 21.

VEME Studios Summer Programs

Greenport

VEME Studios in Greenport offers half-day art programs for kids and teens. The Creators Club is for ages 6 to 13 and has a different theme each week, like Modern Cubism, Pop Art, Outer Space, and more.

Older kids and teens ages 12 to 17 can join Pottery Week in August, where they work with clay and fire their finished pieces in a kiln.

Ages 6 to 17, Monday to Friday. Creators Club runs 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on select weeks from June 29 to August 28. Pottery Week runs 10:00 am to 12:30 pm from August 17 to 21.

Wilderness Summer Camp

Mattituck

Wilderness Summer Camp in Mattituck combines nature, art, and outdoor skills. Tony Valderrama, local artist and environmental educator, leads the camp. Projects and activities focus on local wildlife, natural materials, and exploring outdoors.

Ages 6 to 16, Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Sessions run July 13 to 17 and August 10 to 14.

Tiana Bayside Summer Programs

Hampton Bays

Tiana Bayside in Hampton Bays is on the South Fork, but well worth the drive. There are two art programs to choose from, both led by Carolyn Munaco, a marine educator and artist.

ArtSea is a week-long camp where kids practice painting, drawing, sculpture, and collage inspired by local marine habitats. Each day combines art projects with habitat exploration, touch tanks, and gathering natural objects from the shore.

Seahorse Art & Science is designed for older kids. The week's art projects come from real fieldwork: seining, caring for their own tanks, and observing seahorses up close in the eelgrass.

Ages 7 to 14, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. ArtSea runs July 20 to 24 and August 17 to 21. Seahorse Art & Science runs July 27 to 31 and August 10 to 14.
