Firefly Festival on the North Fork

Turtleback Conservation Center is hosting its first Firefly Festival on Saturday, June 27, at Custer Preserve in Southold. This evening event celebrates fireflies, dark skies, and the start of summer.
Families can learn why dark nights and fallen leaves matter for firefly habitat, join a community science count, and go on a firefly scavenger hunt. It is a good fit for kids who are curious about nature and happy to stay out past dusk.
After the festival, anyone who wants to stay can join mothing at Custer Observatory, where moths are identified behind the observatory starting at 9:00 pm.
Saturday, June 27, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Custer Preserve, 1080 Main Bayview Road, Southold.
Full details are on the Firefly Festival page at Turtleback Conservation Center.
